Imagine The Possibilities

11:00 am

So many brands and influencers around the world supported International Women's Day yesterday, to try and help in tackling such a key issue that shouldn't still be present in todays society. However it seems that it is going to take a lot more of us to make a difference and probably more time than we think. Unfortunately a Fairy Godmother can't wave her wand and magic change overnight. But with the wide support and brand names such as Adidas, the BBC and Barbie getting behind the movement, surely it can't be too long.

There has been a focus on starting the movement young and making sure we are influencing our young girls, and boys, to understand that Women can be more than the stereotype. I loved a quote I spotted yesterday that truly represents this -
Why raise her as a Princess, when she can be a Warrior.
This was shown in the incredible, Imagine the Possibilities Campaign by Barbie back in 2015.
'The “Imagine the Possibilities” campaign showed five girls playing out what they wanted to be when they grew up, choosing a vet, a museum guide, a businesswoman, a college professor and a soccer coach. The careers were chosen by each of the young actresses, and they were filmed unscripted playing out their dreams in front of unsuspecting adults.'*
The campaign has reached over 24Million views on Youtube alone and since the first release, Barbie have created a set of shorts showcasing young girls in real life careers. They're all super inspiring and showcase the message in a fun but hard hitting manner. The campaign 'didn't just advertise, but created an important conversation'* that needs to be had to inspire change.
