April Fools You

11:30 am

When April comes around you have to remeber to take most things with a pinch of salt. Even brands are getting in on the act of April Fools Day. Take a look at ten of this years best brand fake news.

Coca-Cola Helium
'All the taste of Coke, all the fun of inhaling a helium balloon and speaking with a squeaky voice.'*

Virgin Train Ticket Tattoos
Virgin developed a concept to allow customer to to never loose their train tickets. Getting them 'permanently tattooed on their body, thanks to the magic of Tick-Ink.'*

Royal Mint 99p Coins

St Pancras Statue
'Earlier this week John Legend, the 10-time Grammy-winning recording artist, brought a bit of glamour to St Pancras in London when he sat down and played at the piano in the station, performing a brief impromptu set for a small crowd of passers-by. To mark the occasion St Pancras International says it has commissioned a 1.75-metre-high bronze statue of Legen to replace the current bronze figure of poet Sir John Betjeman on the station’s Grand Terrace.'*

UK to Withdraw from Eurovision
'Pink News gives a knowing nod to the UK's withdrawal from the European Union with the arguably more shocking revelation that the UK will also be pulling out of the Eurovision Song Contest. "PinkNews understands that the withdrawal will come into effect in the first few months of 2019, meaning the UK will have just two more shots at the trophy," claims the LGBT+ news org. "Plans are afoot for Scotland to compete by itself."'*

England Rugby Training with Ostrich Eggs
'England captain Tom Mitchell says: We’ve been training with the ostrich eggs for a couple of months now after the coaches hatched a plan to help us improve for the rest of the season."We’re always looking for ways to improve and this one example of how we can hopefully achieve this in the World Series.”'*

Domino's Letterbox Warmer

Subway Ice Cream

Some of these fools are hard to believe could ever be true, but others are super easy to fall for.
I think it's great that brands are having a bit of fun with this day of the year and it's also such a great way to create a conversation between brand and consumer, even if its based around a completely ridiculous lie.
