New York City

Okay, yes I did go to the City that never sleeps nearly a month ago but with no wi-fi in the hotel and deadlines when I returned I have only just got round to writing this.

Monday 6th January 2014

After an early wake up of 5AM! and the long drive down to London as well as a delay at the airport we finally boarded the plane at 2pm for an 8 hour flight across the ocean. I had never been to New York, however it has always been a dream of mine to get there eventually. I knew that the city was huge and especially this time of year it was freezing temperatures but apart from that I knew I was going to have a great experience that will never be forgotten.
Once we had arrived in America and gone through the surprisingly not scary passport control, we headed to our hotel. You could tell exactly when you were coming into the city, skyscrapers all around you, lights blaring from every angle and taxis swerving all over the road. Our hotel was right close to the Empire State Building allowing a view from our bedroom windows and due to the closeness we decided to venture up to the 86th floor. The views were breathtaking and the lights were shining for miles in front of us. The noisy loud city seemed so quiet and small from up there. The only down side to the views is we could only see three sides due to the powerful winds making it unbearable to stand on the 4th side, it was the night before the coldest day in over 100 years.
