Pop It, Theme It

3:00 pm

Themed bars, restaurants and shops have been popping up all over the world and I just can't get enough of them. Take a look at three of the my favourite set-ups.

Mockingbird Hill Bar in Washington DC
'Mockingbird Hill bar in D.C.'s Shaw neighbourhood has transformed into a pop-up aiming to celebrate the annual cherry blossom bloom in Washington D.C., and has been decorated with animatronic piranha plants, illuminated mystery boxes and a Mario mural made of Lego hanging above the bar. All elements are inspired by and feature in the Super Mario game franchise.Mockingbird Hill has also tailored its cocktail menu to fit the theme, and is serving drinks such as 'It's A Me, Amario', which uses sweet vermouth, Don Ciccio and Figli Carcafio, aperitivo and spicy ginger ale, and 'I Call Yoshi!', which features unfiltered sake, Midori, Chartreuse, cucumber melon and lemon.' *
This amazing pop-up is open until April 15th. So if you're in the area make sure you get yourself down there and immerse yourself in a Super Mario World.

Powerpuff Girls Shop in NYC
In connection with the repremiere of the super popular show, Cartoon 'network released a Powerpuff Yourself tool. Over 12 million fans shared their personalized Powerpuff'd selves on social media' and for one weekend only a pop-up shop was set up to allow fans to bring them to life.**
'The shop was a fun combination of two strong campaigns from Cartoon Network: #PowerpuffYourself took off on social media, and finding out your Powfactor (the thing that makes you uniquely great) was turned into a successful on-air ad for the network's CN Sayin' app.In the pop-up shop, you could design your own Powerpuff Girls avatar and have it printed on a T-shirt, baseball tee, mug or tote bag while browsing the store. Also available for purchase were specially designed patches and pins to suit everyone's Powfactor in a collaboration with Print All Over Me.'**
Similar to the Mockingbird Hill Bar, The Powerpuff Girls Shop was only open for a weekend last November. But how amazing does it look! Completely themed and interactive which is pretty impressive when it only took 24 hours to be set-up.

Los Pollos Hermanos in NYC
The Breaking Bad chicken shop has become an iconic part of both Breaking Bad and the Netflix spin-off, Better Call Saul.
'Los Pollos Hermanos, helmed by the fictional Gustavo Fring (Walter White's arch nemesis), is popping up in NYC for one weekend only (April 9-10) to promote Fring's appearance on an upcoming episode of Better Call Saul. The restaurant will be located at 243 Pearl St in FiDi and, if its prior pop-ups in Austin (for SXSW festival) and L.A. are any indication, will be serving breakfast tacos, burgers and burritos.'***

I think all of these pop-up set-ups are great! They have considered all the different angles, whether this be replicating a set-up from a tv show or simply bringing the characters to life. But they all have one thing in common, creating an interactive activation that allows fans and consumers to be immersed into a fun themed reality world.
