Viva Las Vegas

1:30 pm

You hear about it on TV shows, but nothing can prepare you for the sheer size of everything when you hit the bright lights of Las Vegas.

Vegas was our second stop of our American Tour last year and I was super excited to be able to tick it off the bucket lit. On landing at the airport you see the strip in view surrounded by dessert and you know - this is it, let the madness commence. We stayed in the Egyptian themed Luxor Hotel and it was so spectacular, and don't even get me started on the beds - best night sleep I think I have ever had. I say this but sleep is the last thing we were thinking of doing with only four nights in the state. So many people said before the trip that you can't spend longer than a couple of days in Vegas. Well from my experience they are completely wrong. We packed as much as we could in and we still had so much we wanted to do. But let's go back to what we were able to do.

Sunbathing wasn't the greatest option, well not for a long period of time. Three gingers in over 40 degree heat, you could see where that would end up. But there is never a worry of having nothing to do. It might have been sweltering hot but when you can treat yourself to a delicious Fat Tuesdays and hit the monorail to get around the different hotels there is nothing to worry about.
We had done our research before heading out and made sure we would make the most of our nights in the incredible resort and it definitely didn't disappoint. Calvin Harris in Omnia was just a whole different world. I think we are so used to having DJ's come on for a quick half an hour set but not here. He must've been playing for over 3 hours!
The slight issue of him being on so long, the club being insane and wanting to make the most of it we crashed into bed around 5am. Your probably thinking that's okay, comfy bed and you can lounge by a pool the next day - perfect hangover cure. Yes it would have been if we had the time. But no we decided on a 14 hour round trip to the Grand Canyon leaving at 6:30am that morning. Well done on that planning. Pre-warning if you do go on a trip like this, don't bother bringing food as I swear to god Americans plan food stops on the journey, they are like a landmark in themselves. Anyway it actually turned out as great cure. The sights were absolutely stunning and something you have to go and see. The epic views are something I will never forget.
After the mammoth trek of the Canyon the following day was a bit more chill with the plan to have a proper explore of all the hotels and casinos after a lazy morning sun/shade bathing. However it didn't go completely to plan. We knew our University results were coming out in the coming days but when in Vegas you don't overly worry too much. However this was the moment they decided to publish them, early for once which if you have gone to Uni you know nothing is never early. I can't complain though. Sitting by a pool, with my fellow gingers in blistering heat with a Fat Tuesdays and Pizza, I think that's a pretty good place for us all to find out we had achieved 2:1's, oh and we were in Vegas what a great place to celebrate. And that's exactly what we did.

I have never gambled before but there was a first time for everything. $21 for my 2:1 and being 21 actually ended up being more successful than I thought. Maybe it was beginners luck, I say luck I didn't loose anything and gained around 1$20c so really it was nothing but I'm going to take it.

After my mini success, our next celebration was something we had all been super excited for all trip - the Britney Spears Piece of Me Show. I don't think we sat down at any moment of the show and we were definitely fan girling. But how can you not! An incredible jam packed day that will always hold a special memory.
Our last couple of hours before heading on to our last stop of the tour was the "trek" to the famous Las Vegas Sign. We were definitely not prepared for the heat. They had taken on the British etiquette of queuing to get your photo, which works very effectively as then you get no extras photobombing your picture. However there was no shade at all and quite a wait. Dedication to the photo, but totally worth it.
As I mention earlier we definitely felt like we could have stayed much longer. We never made it the whole way up and back down the 4 mile strip, definitely could have gone to more shows and never got to explore the old town areas just off the boulevard. Forgetting this, I loved every second and was so glad that we got to celebrate the finishing of uni in this incredible and crazy place.
