Princesses & Lionesses

Having focused on equality within sport for my dissertation over a year ago, I am loving the collaboration between Princesses & Lionesses to help young girls dream big.

'The Lionesses, led by captain Steph Houghton, are sharing their inner Disney Princesses including Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Jasmine from Aladdin and Rapunzel from Tangled to show young girls that footballers can also be Princesses. England Lionesses Steph Houghton, Lucy Bronze, Ellen White, Nikita Parris and Siobhan Chamberlain are pictured sharing their advice for aspiring Princesses including 'Be Confident', 'Be Determined', 'Be Caring', 'Be Kind', 'Be Fearless'. The players also star in a series of short films talking about the attributes they share with Disney Princesses and the barriers they have overcome to realise their dreams as part of a new partnership between The FA and Disney.'*
I think it's great that such a huge name is working in developing and pushing the sport so that more young girls will aspire to follow their idols whilst also 'shattering stereotypes of what it means to be a princess in the modern world.'**
Make sure you catch the Lionesses on Channel 4 this summer competing in the UEFA Women's Euro's and don't forget to show your support and get Saluting.
