Thursday 9th January 2014

Today we headed off the Island to Williamsburg. I wasn't sure about this town as it went from looking like it was abandoned to randomly having designer shops and little cafes, however the graffiti that was plastered along the streets was not seen as disgusting but was viewed as art and an expression showing the differences between the city.
Our next stop was Brooklyn which sounded easier than we thought, we ended up the complete wrong side of Brooklyn and tried to work our way back but ended up being on a train surrounded and unaware where we were, so when we eventually got to the Brooklyn Museum to see the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition we were relieved. The exhibition was really interesting and slightly quirky with models with either no faces or with projected talking faces. The size of the exhibition was perfect moving through eras within each room.

After the museum we headed back to the city and walked down 7th Avenue (Fashion Ave) and stumbled across Madison Square Garden where we could hear lots of chanting so we decided to have a look. It was the New York Knicks band playing outside pre-game. We tried to get some tickets but we were gutted as none were available however the atmosphere around the stadium and around the whole city was huge, suddenly everywhere was busy and people had come out of hibernation from the cold couple of days.

We then walked up to Times Square to go for dinner at the famous Hard Rock Cafe and could also keep up to date with the scores as well.
